Here's how I break down my scripts when I'm performing in a Shakespeare play. This time I'm playing Hotspur in Henry IV Part 1
Punch holes in the paper script & pop it in a binder
Mark everywhere someone says something about my character
Mark every scene my character is in
Highlight my lines
Mark out my speeches noting the end of a sentence, the end of a thought, lists, & repeated words
Mark any words or phrases I don't completely understand
Check the notes in the Folger, Oxford, or Arden edition and look up words in the Shakespeare's Words glossary
Speak the speech trippingly on the tongue 😉
