Have you read the paradox trilogy by Rachel Bach? You might like that, it's a bit killjoys-y. The romance is probably a secondary element but still quite prevalent

Killjoys-y is all I need to be sold on a thing. And I think what I’m really in the mood for is sci fi that gets the right balance of plot to romance, so I don’t mind it being secondary as long as it’s prevalent. And my library has it so it’s on hold now! (unfortunately not at the branch I’m going to tomorrow though)

Daniel is awful awful awful, grumpy, uncaring and unfunny and I especially hate the way he treats Vala.

I do think he has his moment or two, but oh yes, I agree about Vala. And I’m not even a big fan of Vala

YES he is the best, i was going to star the liveship traders the other day and then read ALL OF THE BOOKS, that universe is just too good. i am reading the tamir triad atm though and it is ok but nowhere near as absorbing as any of robin hobbs books
