In fact one of my first major campaigns as a highly sought after model in the cutthroat international fashion industry was the @versace campaign with #Avedon @avedonfoundation - those of you who read my book “Finding The Supermodel In You” avail on @amazon and my site - might recall the story I relay about how I had to miss a week of school for the shoot which sent my mother into a tailspin of worry at the time. So happy she ultimately allowed me to book the job. :: Modeling as well as any other branch of the entertainment industry can present a vast array of choices that a young person and very often their parents have to make; choices that are not always easy to navigate through IE: do you leave high school and work full time? Do you report the sexual predation you experienced from a powerful industry chief? Do you get yourself into therapy or coaching to help handle the emotional and mental turbulence you’re going through by not having the normative childhood/adolescence? :: I know that some think, “well, a normal childhood isn’t always a cake walk, so how bad can a diversion into the ‘glamorous’ world be?” Oh it can be the most traumatic thing a growing person goes through during that precious time in life, period. :: So, the important thing is to get support. To expand your community and network to include mentors; therapists and coaches. Besides being a certified life coach today who works with people, especially women, of all ages, I also love to continue to coach young people in the entertainment industry or wishing to get in, navigate their way through.
