"Jesse, stop."This is exactly why he didn't want to tell Jesse in the first place. For one, he didn't want to talk about it and he didn't want Jesse to know because then Jesse would want to talk about it all the time. And two, he knew Jesse would turn in to this. Turn into this person that had something to prove, like he was supposed to be Milo's knight in shining fucking armor.That's not what Milo wanted. Milo didn't want to be the damsel in distress at the top of the tower. He could fight his own battles - okay, that's a lie. He couldn't. He would need someone to fight for him but he didn't want to be that person to be Jesse. He didn't want to feel like he had to owe Jesse anything. "It's not a big deal," Milo mumbled, scrunching his face because he knew that Jesse was going to retort and say that the entire situation is a big deal. It was. But Milo was downplaying it because he wanted to. He didn't want anyone else to be involved. He didn't want to feel like he had to be constantly looking over his shoulder to make sure that Jordan wasn't behind him. Those times were long gone. Milo still didn't even know if Jordan knew where he was and he sure as hell wasn't going to find out because that would cause him to add more stress to his already stressful life. A part of Milo is happy that Jesse wants to stand up for him, wants to protect him. But for two people who "weren't a thing," this was more thing a big deal to Milo. This meant something. That Milo meant something to Jesse. Jesse, the guy with walls as thick as stone that has told Milo again and again that he's just a warm mouth. The same guy that refuses to acknowledge the smile that creeps on his face when Milo walks in to the room. That was his knight in shining armor. "I appreciate it, I do." Milo mumbled, turning his body over so he was now able to straddle Jesse as he sat on the bed, placing his hands on both of Jesse's shoulders. "I can protect myself." He mumbled, leaning down and attaching his lips to Jesse's, pulling away to kiss along his jaw and up towards his ear, nibbling on it lightly. "Don't you think we've done enough talking for tonight?"Because shit, if Jesse getting defensive over Milo didn't turn him on, then there was absolutely nothing else that was going to.

When she walked into Daniel’s home the first thing that she noticed was the quiet. Last night, when she had come to help with a minor problem, that was hardly the case. After all, babies could be quiet noisy at times - crying and screaming at just about anything. Technically Avery hadn’t had much experience with taking care of kids. Instead of babysitting when she was a young teenager, she was on set working with mostly adults. That hadn’t stopped her, however, from learning bits of advice from her mother and many other people along the way.When she saw Daniel leaving the room where his youngest daughter, Vera, sleeps she immediately gave him a smile and moved her hand behind her back to cover the small surprise she brought him. He looked worn out - his eyes drooped from a lack of sleep and his body looked exhausted - but it doesn’t stop him from grinning at her when he saw her. The words that tumbled out of his mouth gave her a sense of a relief and she shook her head with a small laugh."Technically, you can thank Jill for this one." She whispered, careful not to be too loud for the sleeping baby, as she mentioned her mother. "Who knew one little stuffed animal could do the trick? Scruffy the Dog has got to have some magical powers."Although she was thankful that her confidence in the dog being able to stop Vera from crying, it wasn’t the main reason that she was there. Quickly she pulled out the small bag of breakfast goodies from behind her back and shook the bag in between them. “Figured you and Adrian could use some food that you don’t need to spend time cooking, yeah? Think of it as a little pick me up.”
