Is it normal on tumblr for MLs to act like this? I used to mod an online community that was pretty ecumenical and included anyone from anarchists and post-anarchists to Trotskyists and a couple MLs, but I've never seen such misguided and ostensibly bad-faith opinions on anarchism than I've seen in the past week or so.
NGL some of the posts about how anarchists can't be trusted and should be possibly imprisoned or even executed have me feeling concerned.
It's a case of people who are more interested in building up an online following with edgy content rather than educating and agitating with people of similar beliefs. Legit real-world organizing would probably kill them, so instead these specific kinds of marxist get really loud on the internet and dream up marxist power fantasies. It's not a huge group of people, just a very loud group of people who are always online for some reason lol. They like to get loud and abusive when people tell them that their shit *doesn't* in fact smell like roses and they are *not* all-knowing beings just because they read a chapter of Das Kapital.
I run several covid communities and we have several MLs who are very understanding and even knowledgeable about anarchist thought. These people who post shit about killing anarchists are just cops with extra steps and should be shunned until they learn to be kind at the very least.
