Jonathan felt forsaken by Stendarr so he went down the Meridia route. I guess he stumbled upon her beacon during his fight with Jack & said fuck it & Bruford later gifted him Dawnbreaker. Jona is definitely the kind of person to have interest in daedric artifacts anyway..
