For day two of #claygratitude my focus is on Delores Fortuna. The decision to take Delores' glaze chemistry class early on in my time at SAIC sent me down a path filled with test tiles, color blends and recipe hoarding. She began to show me how to try and control the magic that happens during a firing that year which helped my interest grow beyond just making ceramics a hobby. After that glaze chemistry class I took every course she offered through the school making her the most influential teacher of mine through my college years. At the end of my time at SAIC she took me to see studios through out Chicago including one (@lillstreet) that would become a part of my daily practice more than half a decade later. She was the one who drew the road map I eventually followed to where I am today.
