UPDATE: I’ve since disposed of the skull, thanks everyone for their kind words and helping me!

So basically I found a seagull skull with a couple inches of the spine still attached on my local beach. It’s mostly decomposed, with sand caked on the nape of the neck. There might be gross stuff under that sand and in the skull, but I didn’t look. I picked it up with an inside out plastic shopping bag and took it!

I don’t know how to clean it, and I’d like to preferably do it in the least gross way possible! I won’t use bleach since I’ve been reading that it’s too strong. Any suggestions?? I have no idea what I’m doing.

Hello vc community! I've been running into an issue with degreasing bones- no matter how long I let them degrease and rinse them with water after, they are still tacky to touch. Not greasy or smelly, just a bit sticky. This even happens with bones that are totally white and pristine- could it be the soap (Dawn) that I'm using? Maybe the temperature I'm degreasing stuff at? Do i just need to let stuff sit longer? I have things that have been degreasing for 3-5+ months and still come up with this problem. Is it possible to let things degrease too long, even if the water still gets cloudy? I know I haven't been super active on here recently with original posts but any feedback or tips you all have would be greatly appreciated!
