❂ >>> The failed genocide of the planet Chorus was GALACTIC NEWS.
The fact that it even reached his home galaxy surprised Hux. He had always held a special interest for the neighboring system anyway, but it only increased after hearing about the infamous Project Freelancer. But this story? This story was HUGE. And there were a few variables that really sparked Hux’s interest in the entire thing.
The first, and potentially the biggest, was the fact that he could easily use this to his advantage. If he aided the UNSC in cleaning up this mess, he could gain the trust of the galaxy’s biggest military power. If he held a partnership with them, it would only make it easier to convert them over to the First Order’s cause.
The second were the mercenaries.
General Hux was not a fan of bounty hunters. He believed that it was PATHETIC to confide in someone for a job that could easily be done with a little extra time and care. Not to mention, he had his stormtroopers. In his honest opinion, they were far superior to any blasted bounty hunters. And these mercenaries were essentially that--bounty hunters.
The fact that they had come so close to wiping out an entire planet? Now THAT had gotten the general’s attention. A part of him still looked down on anyone who would hire a bounty hunter for a job that could easily be done on your own. However, recruiting them to aid alongside you in a struggle? He couldn’t say he was opposed to the thought.
He was mostly concerned about whether the Resistance would get the idea to maybe hire extra help. With the news of Chorus everywhere, he was paranoid that the Resistance would try to track down one or both of those mercenaries.
So Hux intended to snag one for the Order first. It took a lot of strings to pull, and he had to be very careful as to make sure he stayed completely unseen by the UNSC, but he managed to track down one of the mercenaries. It was important that the UNSC didn’t know he was doing this--it would look much too suspicious on his part. These mercenaries were wanted men.
It wasn’t easy by any means, but he managed find the whereabouts of one of them--Felix, he thought his name was. Hux instantly jumped on the idea to offer a proposition to the merc, offering for him to meet him on the Finalizer in person to discuss negotiations.
Now that Felix had actually arrived, Hux felt a lot better. He was here, and out of reach of the Resistance. There was no way he would allow them to potentially recruit such an ASSET
The beeping from his datapad tore him from his thoughts. The general reached over to tap in a reply, telling his men to bring the mercenary into his office. Shortly after, they had escorted him in. Always in twos--that’s how Hux liked his troopers to work. He couldn’t say why, he just preferred it that way.
With a wave of his hands, the stormtroopers both turned and exited the room as Hux stood from his chair to move over and greet the man.
“ --Felix, correct? ”
He offered a hand to him.
“ General Hux. Thank you again for accepting to listen to the PROPOSITION we have for you. ”
