Clexa selfies up for auction! Pool?
As you’ve probably heard, the clexa bed selfies that Eliza took have been given to Jo to auction off in August.
These selfies are going to go for a lot of money. I donated a signed Clarke funko for the Isla auction, and it went for almost $800. The selfies could easily go for more than $1,500.
Is there any interest in the fandom to put together a pool to purchase the selfies and then share them with the fandom? I’m thinking we could set up a GoFundMe campaign to raise money for it, with the understanding that every penny raised that isn’t needed to purchase the selfies go to charity.
I know that some in the fandom have issues with Jo, so my suggestion is that the remaining funds be given to Eliza’s school Koh Tao InternationalPrimary in Thailand. Or we divide the remaining funds between the school and Alycia’s favorite charity.
That being said, Alycia can be hard to reach, and I don’t know if she’s ever mentioned a favorite charity?
Something else to think about...Jo mentioned in a post that she is going to try and get Alycia to sign them, so it sounds like the selfies have been printed, and prints are being auctioned off. I’m guessing they will be auctioned off separately. And the goal would be to purchase all of them.
If the selfies are in print form, that makes dissemination harder. High quality digital photos could be taken of the pictures and posted to tumblr and twitter etc. But it does raise the issue of who keeps the hard copies, unless money is used to reprint the photos, and they are mailed to everyone who donated. With the intention of digital copies being released on social media so everyone can see them no matter what.
That would of course raise a few other questions about how much of a donation entitles you to a print etc. There might also be a stipulation that the hard copies can’t be reproduced in print form. That is a question for later.
I’ve been in contact with Jo before, and I can ask her about the selfies if they are digital or hard copy, or both.
But the first question that needs to be answered is:
Is there an interest in setting up a GoFundMe campaign to raise money to purchase all the selfies with the intention of disseminating them to everyone, as everyone should be able to see the selfies regardless if they have money or not?
Let’s start with that question first and move on from there.
