thoughts about clexa 10 years later
i’m a little late as i’ve been busy with school but i wanted to share about the impact of clexa on my life and how i feel about it now.
i can’t believe it’s been 10 years since my heart first shattered for lexa. when lexa died i was 13, i was coming to terms with myself, who i was, and the life path i had before me. she wasn’t the first queer representation in my life but she was certainly the most impactful. before the 100 i had seen other wlw relationships but i hadn’t really seen myself in them, i just didn’t really relate to the characters or feel as attached to them, i couldn’t put myself in their shoes. but with clarke and lexa i felt hope, i could see a possibility. when lexa died i remember it feeling like a piece of me and my future had died. it was like someone snuffed out the only flame of hope i had at the time, like everywhere i looked people didn’t want me to exist. i found hope again eventually but not so easily.
luckily i was already reading copious amounts of clexa fanfic and the fic writers came in CLUTCH. i wouldn’t be able to count the number of fics ive read since then where lexa lives a long happy life with clarke (and anya). those fics got me through being a teenager and i can still read trigedasleng now because of them. i want to send all my gratitude and love towards the fic writers who got me and many many others through the grief of such a beloved character.
love you queen💕
