I’m really happy with Flash.
After sustaining some neurological damage either caused by EPM or by an accident in turn out, he has been out for quite awhile. His owner had him treated for EPM as the test was nonconclusive but the treatment helped. Unfortunately, this happened just after our barn got out of a long quarantine so he hadn’t been in work for months. He had lost muscle mass and was having trouble eating due to a loose lower lip so had started to lose weight as well. He was a sad state for a minute. But then after the meds started to help and he was put on more hay and alfalfa and he started doing a lot better.
In the past few months or so he was been eager to come out of his stall and in to the arena. He’s starting to put back on muscle by running around the pasture. I’m so happy he’s feeling better. I was so worried for him when he was starting to loose his functions and trip more.
In the last week I’ve started to work with him on clicker training in hopes that it will help with his brain working and get him thinking a bit more. It may help him heal more, it may not but it can’t hurt.
I’ve only had three sessions with him so far, but he is getting the hang of it so quickly and so eagerly it’s making me so happy. I’m excited to see how quickly he picks other things up
