This is a shot I did for a client last week, and they wanted a “summer bbq vibe”.... and it’s basically still winter where I am... so it kind of made my heart hurt.

Laura's Maternity Shoot
Laura’s Maternity Shoot
Recently I did a maternity shoot for the fabulous Laura of Wholeheartedly Healthy and her husband James. It was a lovely relaxed early evening shoot in Saltwell Park. The sun was beating down on us even though it was still late in the day and we got some great photos.
Wishing Laura and James all the best for their little bundle due in September.

Main Client Shoot | Parka Jacket
Saturation (BIN)
From the test shoot I now know I need to decrease the saturation from the green bin on the right because it stands out way to much. I did this by going to "hue/Saturation" then decreasing the saturation of the bin. Next I inverted the mask layer already there and colored in the bin with a white paint brush.
Color Balance (JACKET)
The original image did not show off the true green of the parka jacket, so I wanted to make it more true to life, I did this by going to "color balance" and then increased the greens then I inverted the mask layer already there and colored in the jacket with a white paint brush.
Saturation (PINK WALL)
The bright pink wall detracted from the main image subject, I fixed this by going to "hue/saturation" and decreasing the saturation until the pink was slightly less in your face. Then I used the mask layer and and a black paint brush to paint out everywhere but the pink wall.
Contrast (ROAD)
I added contrast to the road which has made the image quite powerful and stand out from the rest of the series. I did this by going to "brightness and contrast" and increasing the contrast as far as it could go, I inverted the layer mask then made the white brush very large and put the hardness of the brush right down so it fades out towards the end of the road.
Curves (ROAD + BODY)
I added a few finishing touches like the cures, I did this by clicking on "curves" and making a very small "S" and I used the mask layer and a black paint brush to edit out everywhere but the body of the model and the road.
Main Client Shoot | Checked Shirts
Editing in Photoshop!
Most of the checked shirts where edited in the same way as the lighting and the settings on the camera where the exact same. This means most of the editing will be very similar, but their are a few edits which are different for the reasons under the final images above.
Brightness and contrast (MODEL)
The model in the original image was a bit dark because of the time of day, so I needed to increase the brightness in Photoshop, I also wanted to make the model have more contrast to make it a quite powerful image. I did all this by going to the "brightness and contrast" on the right of Photoshop and adjusting the sliders accordingly after that I needed to edit out background by using the mask layer already created, then get the paint brush and paint out the areas i didn't want, in this case it was the hole background.
Brightness and Contrast (BACKGROUND)
Now I have edited the model I needed to sort out the background I started this by going to "brightness and contrast" when I clicked onto it two sliders appear, I adjusted these accordingly to the background and nothing else. I brought the contrast right down and the brightness all the way up, The final thing to do was to edit out the model from the second "brightness and contrast" layer.
Saturation and vibrance (BACKGROUND)
The background still had work to be done it was very yellow this could have been because of the lighting in the underground, I fixed this by going to "saturation and vibrance" and decreasing the saturation accordingly until the yellow was gone. The final thing to do was to edit out the model from the second "saturation and vibrance" layer.
