I'm Taking The Prime Minister To The High Court | Chris Packham
There Goes Gerald Today is Earth Day and I thought I’d try and draw some attention to the plight of small island nations that are struggling with the effects of climate change, from Polynesia to the Maldives to the Solomon Islands and yes, even Singapore. A lot of people think climate change is coming. The truth is, it’s already here. Small island nations in particular feel its effects every day — effects such as the loss of coastal land, salinification of freshwater, acidification of seawater, increasingly frequent storms and worsening droughts, and loss of biodiversity. It threatens the very survival of the inhabitants, their way of life, their food and water sources, and their culture. Unfortunately, many small island nations have low populations and no money to protect their islands or to move their people off the islands. Their future is pretty grim if change doesn’t happen right now. Send this to someone or talk to your kids about this. Then find out more about climate change and what we can do to change it! #EarthDay2020 #EarthDay #smallisland #climagechange #climateaction #globalwarming #risingsealevels #climatecrisis #climaterefugees #Connect2Earth #EasterIsland #Maldives #Polynesia #ChangeClimateChange (at Easter Island) https://www.instagram.com/p/B_SLpBcH-AH/?igshid=52a1f130y5f
modelo luce una veraniega prenda de macramé. me avergüenzo. #Repost @unesco • • • 5 June is World Environment Day. Today, nearly one-third of the plastic packaging we use bypasses collection systems and ends up polluting our environment. This pollution particularly concerns our oceans. Carried by the seawater currents, billions of plastic fragments are amalgamated in the oceans. Over the last four decades, the amount of this waste has increased a hundredfold in the Pacific Ocean, to the point of forming what is now called the “seventh continent” of plastic, a vast garbage patch swirling around in the North Pacific, the size of one-third of the United States of America. While ocean plastic pollution is primarily a threat to marine ecosystems, it is also a danger to human health as plastic waste enters the food chain. In recent years, these risks have increasingly attracted attention from policy-makers, the private sector, environmental NGOs, the media and the scientific community. It is above all about changing behaviours and attitudes. On this World Environment Day, let’s share our ideas and solutions on #BeatPlasticPollution. Together, we can change our habits and beat this problem. #WorldEnvironmentDay #Environment #Agenda2030 #GlobalGoals #ClimageChange #SustainableDevelopment #BiosphereReserves #Earth #Nature #MakeOurPlanetGreatAgain
Fossil fuels get a lot of attention when it comes to global warming and climate change, but we also need to look our food supply.
Going vegan causes less harm to the planet. If we want to prevent devastating global climate change, “animal agriculture,” which produces the most potent greenhouse gases, must significantly decrease.
