The City of Encinitas is undergoing an update to the Climate Action Plan. Since the adoption of the 2011 Climate Action Plan, new methods for calculating GHG emissions and projecting future emissions have been developed. In addition, advances in technology and public policy offer greater options for innovative GHG reduction strategies. The City’s new Climate Action Plan will differ from the 2011 plan in that it will be a goal-oriented plan. In the new plan, the City will commit to implementing specific programs and projects aimed at reducing and mitigating the impacts of GHG emitting activities by targeted dates. The new plan will be CEQA certified and will satisfy the CEQA requirements for climate change analysis for new development. Two public workshops will be held to obtain input from residents and businesses on the update of the City’s Climate Action Plan. A public workshop provided by the County of San Diego discussing their work on a #ClimateActionPlan (#CAP). Planning and Development Services (PDS) staff continues to implement the County’s Public Outreach and Engagement Plan by enlisting numerous local stakeholders and regional collaborators.
