Hey did you know that you can just like??? Take a painting class with the personal goal to learn enough techniques to be able to paint your own gay clinch covers???? No one can stop you???

I had a lot of fun putting these together. I took all my own reference photos (for this one I walked around the neighbourhood and snapped pics of newly blooming flowers).

I've always really loved clinch covers. They're one of my favourite types of illustration. However, classic romance has historically been a pretty exclusionary genre, and there's not many opportunities to see queer relationships treated sincerely on clinch covers. These are all paintings of me & my partner. It was so fun to put these together.

I've always wanted to paint a clinch cover but I didn't think I'd ever have the skills to do it. It's been really gratifying to try & realize I actually totally can do it!

One of my dragons ended up at a bookstore, so I thought he needed a little stand to be comfy in his new home. But it’s a romance bookstore so it couldn’t be JUST a stand…which means I made a fainting couch for a dragon 😂. And then my husband suggested that I do a clinch cover and I got probably the funniest picture I’ve ever made. Enjoy!
