The Post is reporting that House Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.) asserted/joked back in June 2016 that Vladimir Putin had paid Trump.

House Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.) said in June 2016 that he thought Vladimir Putin had paid then-GOP presidential candidate Donald Trump.
The problem is that even sarcasm is almost always laced with truth. And when it came to Trump colluding with Russia, June 2016 was early even for sarcasm.
“I’ll guarantee you that’s what it is. … The Russians hacked the DNC and got the opp [opposition] research that they had on Trump,” McCarthy said with a laugh.
Ryan asked who the Russians “delivered” the opposition research to.
“There’s … there’s two people, I think, Putin pays: Rohrabacher and Trump,” McCarthy said, drawing some laughter. “Swear to God,” McCarthy added.
Then Paul Ryan shut it down
“This is an off the record,” Ryan said.
Some lawmakers laughed at that.
“No leaks, all right?” Ryan said, adding: “This is how we know we’re a real family here.”
“That’s how you know that we’re tight,” Steve Scalise said.
“What’s said in the family stays in the family,” Ryan added.

An FBI counterintelligence investigation into Russian efforts to influence the presidential election would open the following month, in late July, [FBI Director James B.] Comey has said in testimony to Congress.

"I won’t explain to you the email situation since apparently you think you know all about that, but what did Trump do that was worse than that?" No, please explain, I insist. You see, I didn't bring it up because I think I know "all about that". I brought it up because I doubt you do - you or any other trump fanatic.
Okay well first let me to try to explain this one more time: I am not a Trump fanatic. I don’t even like the guy. I think he is better than Hillary Clinton but that does not make me a fan. I agree with him more policy-wise than Hillary Clinton but I don’t like him as a person and he was not my choice for the Republican candidate and I was quite upset when he became the nominee so just because I hate Hillary more does not mean I like Trump.
Secondly, I’m not going to sit here and write out the whole story of Hillary Clinton’s emails just because you don’t think I know anything about it. I doubt you know much about it because for some reason you think it isn’t worse than anything Trump has done.
But, since you insist, I will say that the email scandal involves knowingly mishandling classified information on a private server (of which one of the results was the deaths of Americans in Benghazi from a terrorist attack), lied several times under oath about it and claimed she had turned over all the emails when, in fact, she had deleted over 30,000 of them. That’s the jist of it although of course we could go into a lot more detail. Now please, I insist you tell me where I am wrong and what the actual email issue was and how it’s not as bad as anything Trump did.
And I’m still waiting for answers on what Trump has done that’s worse than the things Hillary did.
