Geese…photo art from a park along the Clinton River #river #geese #clintonriver #lisacaliceart https://www.instagram.com/p/Ca19N13O9vk/?utm_medium=tumblr
Sunday Funday, 3 1/2 Kayaking on the Clinton River, I could not believe how clean it was, and for once I didn’t have to go up north to Kayak, although it felt like it was up North and I was told it’s the 3rd Fastest River in Michigan. Even though I’m wasted tired, I’m ready for another River Adventure. I wish I could wake up everyday and kayak, hike or ride my bike. I’m not into the cold, and summer is coming to an end, ugh. #thelifeofkayaking #thegoodlife #clintonriver #kayakingadventures (at Clinton River) https://www.instagram.com/p/CEh4p_6MDmz/?igshid=12w1ot2rex3l
Clinton River Quest 2020
This summer, Clinton River Watershed Council is inviting the community to join them on an adventure! They’re launching the Clinton River Quest, a scavenger hunt taking place between July 6 and Sept. 30, where participants will explore the 760 square miles of the Clinton River watershed and learn about the efforts to keep it clean and protected through hiking, fishing, paddling and swimming, clean-up efforts and free educational programs.
CRWC’s Clinton River Quest program will engage you in the watershed using education, involvement and stewardship. This includes teaching Clinton River watershed facts, visiting restoration projects and providing ways in which you can be involved!
Complete the quest at your own pace, before September 30th. When finished take the exit survey, become known as a “River Ranger”, and proudly defend our water resources while wearing your cool t-shirt and supporting CRWC! Don’t forget to document your hunt along the way! Tag Clinton River Watershed Council in social media posts wearing your t-shirt at scavenger hunt site visits and activities.
***BONUS*** The first 50 finishers will receive their choice of a $15 gift card to Plants for Ecology, or a double walled steel water bottle.
Sales end on Sep 30, 2020
A minimum $15 donation per person will get you a t-shirt, sticker and qualify you for grand prizes, like gift cards and merch! The donation will keep the program running and help CRWC to continue the crusade of protecting our water resources!

Troy Students get Outdoors for Science!
This week, 8th Grade students from Larson Middle School got a chance to get hands on with science doing chemical, physical, and biological monitoring at the Gibson Drain on Larson Middle Schools property. The chemical monitoring consisted of testing the drain water for pH, nitrates, phosphates, dissolved oxygen, turbidity, temperature, and coliform bacteria. The physical monitoring consisted of measuring the velocity, erosion and structure of the drain. While the biological monitoring consisted of collecting macro invertebrates with nets, identifying them, and determining their abundance. Students wrote down their findings and were eager to get their hands dirty!
A misty, moody evening run along Michigan's Clinton River, featuring three deer, two tunnels, a pair of chipmunks, a woodchuck (they stalk me), a library, a kayak put in point, a memorial park, a quad-faced clock, a dozen kids dressed to the nines and their camera-clad parents, a rising river, and falling light. Loveliest route I've run in a long time. // I hit the trail about 6 p.m., starting at Utica's Memorial Park, where homecoming kids had gathered for photo ops beneath a massive clock and decorative lights. I logged about six miles before the isolated route and failing light made me call it a night. I envy the folks who'll cover the same ground 12 hours from now in the Weekend Warrior Runfest--assuming the rain stops and the river doesn't overtake the trail...which appeared to be a possibility. // If you're running the route Sunday, the temperature should be perfect. Watch for water puddling in the tunnels, and look off-trail when you hit the bottoms--within that flooded field lurks a river. The climb from the flats to the upper park area is daunting, but brief. You can do it. If you need a breather, there's a cultural heritage interpretive panel across from the plastic portable outhouses after you top the hill. Certainly worth a look. May your stride be strong and the miles be kind. Good luck to you! That's your run report for Saturday, October 6, 2018. Now wherever you are, lace up, head out, and be careful out there! #utica #michigan #clintonriver #clintonrivertrail #clintonriverwatershed #uticamemorialpark #weekendwarriorrunfest #runner #runnersofinstagram #runnerscommunity #brooksrunning #brooksghost10 #trailrunning #trailrun #autumn #uticamichigan #runningisanactofrebellion #cancersurvivor #cancersurvivors #headandneckcancer #runreport (at Utica, Michigan) https://www.instagram.com/p/Bond6L6nrpz/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=16nrmngt08cqh
