From Clock Watcher, Archie's Joke Book Magazine #25 (1956).
Though he hasn’t a design yet, Tabby has a unicorn stallion known as Clock Watcher working for her. Here’s some stuff about him.
• Clock Watcher's talent is patience. It never breaks, it's limitless. He will sit and wait for hours with no issue. It’s a bizarre kind of amazing. • Clock is a very jittery stallion, he's ever nervous and jumpy. He creates barriers where there are none and panics over everything, big or small. • One of the biggest, and viewed as stupidest, causes of Clock having a breakdown is not knowing or having access to the time. It terrifies him, throws him into complete disarray. He'll cry and panic, and just being told the time doesn't help much. He has to be able to see it. Taking his pocket watch brings this on, he'll never lose it because he always keeps hold of it. • Clock Watcher's pocket watch is basically a crutch, a safety that helps to calm him. It tells him the time which helps, it's there to fiddle with and hold which helps. He carries it everywhere, and when not in the grasp of his magic he clips it to a chain about his neck. He would never go without is willingly. • Clock has an extremely logical mind. 1+2=3. Straight forward and fact based, he isn't imaginative. He's very good at maths, because the yes and no's are very definite. He struggles when 'there is no right answer'. It's why he's the accountant for the business, he counts well, and enjoys it. He finds numbers simple, and words hard. • Clock Watcher went to a specialised school to help handle his learning limitations, and for this he was often harshly bullied. • He's good friends with Chubbs, feeling safe around him physically and enjoying his chill attitude. • Clock is an absolute sweetheart, ever scared of doing something wrong, and of upsetting or insulting or annoying people. He's constantly polite, agrees, and apologises in order to make sure he doesn’t. He's just nice to people unconditionally. • Clock always dresses smartly, and keeps his hair very neat. Clock isn't vain, its just fear of people judging him, so he checks in every mirror and reflective surface to make sure everything looks right, everything is order.
You know what I love?
Days in my life where I can lay down and just fall asleep in my bed. Doesn't matter what time it is, no alarms need to be set, because I have nothing i HAVE to go do. There is no sense of urgency or hurry to the action. I am able to just be, and sometimes that is so incredibly satisfying. When every momen't of your day is watching the clock and planned moments, well, everything just doesn't seem so great anymore. Not to mentio the fact that I'm an anxious clock watcher, constantly checking the time. For me something as simple as laying down, being tired and falling asleep without checking a clock, makes my day all the more complete. Even with waking up at four AM I'm so incredibly content here, even by myself. I can smoke a bowl out in the cool night air and then crawl back into my bed to cuddle my dog, and get some more well deserved shut eye.
HAHAHAHAHA I just love his watch updates! Will never get sick of Kyle and Mitchell.
