I figured it was a way for him to play off the incident (at least for now) and let Tomas maintain his dignity, because he knows Tomas will already be crippled with shame by this and he doesn't want to add to that burden by showing Tomas how worried he was

Agreed. I mean Marcus has had Tomas crumbling into little weepy bits in the palms of his hands and he knows just how vulnerable and ashamed Tomas is feeling about letting it come to this to begin with, so he knows he’s got to put on a strong face if only for Tomas’ sake in that moment. Tomas feels CURSED, and Marcus knows the last thing Tomas needs is to see his partner falling apart over it.

I've been writing and re-writing this comment for fifteen minutes and haven't yet figured out how best to write it, so I'll just be straightforward: your blog is absolutely, heartbreakingly beautiful. I've been following it for a while and am currently scrolling slowly through the backlog, and it's simply some of the most incredible work I've ever seen. It's as though everything you've drawn was made just for me. It's beautiful. You're beautiful. I'm rambling, but you know what I mean.

Psst, hey, I'm thinking of watching Black Sails, but I've never seen it before and you're by far the biggest Black Sails fan in my feed. Is there anything I should know before getting into it?

Oh man, that’s quite the honor, lol. The rest of the blogs you follow are clearly sleeping on this! Is there anything you need to know, you ask? Hm. Well…

First of all… do it. You’re making a great life choice right now. It’s a genuinely fantastic show with compelling drama, thrilling action sequences, eye-popping cinematography, and just all sorts of 18th century pirate fun. The characters are easy to get invested in overall, but none moreso than the main character, James Flint. Be warned that there is a strong possibility that at some point you will be willing die for this man. (Also, as I believe you to be a fan of one Percival Graves, there is an even greater likelihood that you will fall in love.)

Second of all, it gay. It’s just filled to the brim with queer rep. There is queer canon, intentional queer subtext, dynamic queer characters who are not defined by their sexuality, tons of queer messages… I could go on. There is even an LGBT-themed Black Sails podcast in the works. So, if that kind of thing is important to you, this show is a great place to turn to.

But in terms of “warnings,” there are two main things that ANY Black Sails fan will tell you if you ask them this question. One, the show takes a little bit to find its footing. The first few episodes are the weakest. Not bad, but a little slow, a little inconsistent. Which I know is unfortunate when you’re trying to get into a new show, but you gotta believe me, it’s worth it. If it doesn’t grab you right away, push through. Any mistakes made in season 1 (which is only 8 eps!) are perfectly Course Corrected by season 2, and it’s just non-stop from there. The characters undergo mind-blowing and satisfying transformations throughout the course of the show. There are ~big reveals~ you’ll wanna stick around for. The scope of everything gets so much bigger. Just… trust me on this. The second thing, is that there is some sexual violence in the beginning of the show. This is an example of one of the later course corrections (in fact, the first few eps may lead you to believe that gratuitous sexual content is part of this show’s whole deal, but it’s actually not.) So, yeah, be forewarned about that. It happens, it ends, nothing like it comes up again for the rest of the show.

And, yeah! What can I say! It’s great and appallingly underrated. The performances are amazing, the character dynamics are amazing, the dialogue is amazing, it’s smart, it’s fun at times and gut-wrenchingly tragic at times and pretty much everyone in it is hot.

Oh, and lastly, my god, there is so much good fic & art, lol. You have no idea. When you’re done binging, come back to me for some recs ;D

Tomas nods solemnly and goes back to sipping his coffee.

she has a multiwinged headpiece to DIE for but I long for the celebrity with the courage to just be multiwinged. Big fucking wings, wings erupting from them, wings that say "no one's posing with me, this moment is mine, also mary you're pregnant". I've seen cosplayers pull out giant wings, surely like gucci can give an actress a twelve foot wingspan with a minimum of six wings

I’m afraid I never got to that prompt you sent me, (Moonlight slipped past my radar,) but I’d love to hear your thoughts about The Reunion happening in a very public place like that, and they see each other from across the room and they want to DO something, to RUN to each other, ANYTHING, but they can’t because this is in public, can’t show what they’re feeling, not yet, and it’s only after they get some privacy that all the regret, the grief for lost time, and the relief finally spill out.

No worries my friend! Moonlight is amazing tho and you should def check it out if you get the chance. The reunion scene I mentioned is so Soft and tender and just everything.

As far as Marcus and Tomas reuniting hooooo boy do I have some Feelings about this. Like maybe Marcus has finally managed to track down the city that Mouse and Tomas are in but he’s been on the road for days with hardly any rest and he’s running on coffee and cigarettes alone so he decides to stop and feed himself before walking into whatever horrendous situation he fears he might find Tomas in, but he walks into the diner and Tomas is just… there. Haggard and grayer than when he last saw him and desperately in need of a shave and a haircut but THERE. Sitting at the counter all by himself sipping coffee and picking at his meal.

And Marcus’ first instinct is to run away because he’s not at all prepared himself for seeing Tomas NOW. His second instinct is to run to him and squeeze him so tight neither one of them can breathe. But he does neither of those of course and instead as calmly as he can manage walks over to the counter and takes the seat next to Tomas. And Tomas smells him before he sees him. Smells that leather and those cigarettes that he knows so well and his heart probably seizes in his chest as he lifts his eyes to gaze over at the man sitting beside him. And Marcus gives him a tired little smile and Tomas’ eyes would be popping out of his head if he weren’t so tired himself.

And Marcus probably says something snarky to try and break the tension, because he doesn’t know what else to do there in public in front of so many other people. And Tomas responds dryly but in a way that lets Marcus know that he’s alright. Well, as alright as he can be given the circumstances. And Marcus laughs and it hurts because he’s so weak and tired and RELIEVED, but for the first time in so many months the world doesn’t feel like it’s tipping out of control under his feet.

And after they’ve both eaten without saying anything much at all they get up and leave together. And Tomas walks over to the truck and looks over his shoulder at Marcus and asks, “You coming?” and Marcus grabs his bag and abandons the pile of junk he’s been driving and climbs in next to Tomas. And he has no idea what horrors Tomas is about to reveal to him about their months spent apart but in that moment it doesn’t matter because they’re TOGETHER and even if it all turns sour in a heartbeat, in that moment everything is as it should be.
