The Doctor, sitting by the amp in the silent console room, holding Clara’s clockwork squirrel in his hands.
So, about that clockwork squirrel: Twelve puts his foot in his mouth (figuratively speaking) or does some other Stupid Thing and upsets Clara, and to make it up to her he fashions her a clockwork squirrel. She pretends to be unimpressed by the Doctor’s creation, but secretly, she loves it to bits.
She misplaces it one day and becomes frantic in her search. The Doctor happens upon her while she’s turning her bedroom upside down looking for the darned thing, and they end up having a Deep and Meaningful Conversation, with the clockwork squirrel somehow being the perfect metaphor for what the Doctor means to her.
(there may or may not be making out between the two lovebirds at this point).
Anyway, the squirrel eventually turns up, and now has pride of place atop the Doctor’s sound system, where it can witness future make-out sessions in the console room.

hey but this means we’re going to see the clockwork squirrel on-screen at some point in s9.
I would like to see this clockwork squirrel DOCTOR!!!!
