I watched Claire as she talked with the teens, the light from their campfire casting an orange glow over her.
“Did it have sharp teeth?” One of the younger kids asked and Claire nodded, smirking at me as the kids gasped.
“You don’t have to worry about him anymore.” I reassured them, throwing a bemused smile at Claire. “We took care of him.”
“Were you hurt?” They asked, eyes wide in admiration.
“Nothing that wont heal.” Claire said.
I rested my head on her shoulder as she continued answering the kids questions, watching the shadows dance across her face.
After hunting down the wendigo that had been picking off hikers in these woods we had gotten lost getting back to the road. I would have teleported us out, but for some reason I couldn’t, so we were stuck here until Alexis could pick us up.
Thankfully we had stumbled across some teens having a camp out, who invited us to sit with them until she got here.
“I love you.” I whispered, kissing her cheek as the kids selected the next person to tell a ghost story. “Even if you get us lost.”
“Hey, that was totally on you.” She teased softly, leaning down to give me a quick kiss.
“Suuure.” I giggled, wrapping my arms around her as a kid started telling his “true” ghost story.
