Attack on Universal Studios Japan 2020 Survey Corps Mess Hall Dining
Cool Japan 2020 at USJ also features a Shingeki themed restaurant this year. This restaurant is only for members of the Survey Corps, don’t forget to salute as you enter! The themed menu offers many choices and varying prices, the menu is in celebration of an operation’s success. You can enjoy a meal worth 3 months of an officer’s salary!
In the photo above and below you can see the crew costumes for the Survey Corps Mess Hall. The crew serving the dishes had a cravat just like the one Levi wears!
To receive a ticket to take a photo with the Clonoids this year you had to order an adult set menu. I ordered the Survey Corps steak meal served with baked potato, grilled tomato, grilled onion, pressed barley salad with beans and sausage, mushroom soup, combat ration cracker and bread. The sauce for the steak also had truffle oil which gave it a nice aroma and flavor.
Roast pork and chicken were also available as options. The roast pork was ok but I felt the steak was much better. Last year the main dish was the roast chicken which was also really nice so it would probably be my second choice for this set.
Aside from the main dishes you could also order some sweets. Both of which were absolutely fantastic! First up there was the Contract Apple dish which was a roast apple to represent Ymir’s contract with the devil of the earth. Visually it was lovely and the aroma and spiced flavor of butter and cinnamon was just perfect. You don’t get a souvenir or photo ticket with this dish but I highly recommend it.
Another dessert dish was the captain’s leisure time black tea dessert. I was so surprised again by the delicate flavor and taste with mandarin orange and caramel complimenting the black tea flavor. The dessert was like a flan or custard. This dish also comes with a souvenir cup. I did not take a picture of it at the restaurant but below is the promotional photo from the website.
There was also a souvenir cup for purchase which looks like the one the Survey Corps members drink from as you can see below!
Besides enjoying a lovely meal you can hear the voices of survey corps members as you dine. I wanted to show more details of the restaurant theming and the actual Clonoids themselves in a separate update so hope you will look forward to it!✨
