See You Again
So maybe Christian had gone a little overboard. He’d signed up for one-on-one online ASL classes and the past few weeks had been spent celebrating Christmas... and learning to sign. He was nervous as hell, though. It was one thing to work with a teacher, it was another thing to try to have actual conversations with Owen. But he had learned so much more about basic sign, and he hoped Owen noticed. He had a bet with himself that he had to keep his phone in his pocket for as long as possible. But they were meeting up at a coffeeshop again and Christian was bundled up- wearing light colored gloves because he had read it was better and easier to see, especially against his dark peacoat.
He might’ve spent a little longer than expected on his hair. And checked his outfit a few times. He was still reeling over how quickly they’d gotten along- and still kicking himself for having to stop their fun after their first date. But they were still texting, Owen still seemed interested... so there was hope there, right? They were going on another date after all... he walked himself into the little coffeeshop and grabbed a table before it filled up, leaning his cane against the chair. It was a cozy corner, out of the way, near a fireplace. He slid his jacket off, gloves and scarf off for now, wearing a nice and fitted button-up, rolling the sleeves up with a shy little smile as he saw Owen walking in. He signed: ‘Hello, handsome. I got here early to get a table. It looks... like you had the same idea.’ His signing was still a little slower than someone who was fluent, but he had his phone tucked away.
