“J-Juvia is sorry...”
Rain had befallen the land so suddenly. As the young girl made her way through the forest, she couldn’t help the tears which had fallen from her eyes. Being chased out of another place of hiding, given the terrible weather which seemed to hover around her very being like some sort of curse, she wondered if there was really any place for her to be.
Quick steps brought her towards a forest clearing where there remained nothing but the drooping leaves of the trees surrounding her. Each drop of rain causing them to momentarily wilt. She came to a stop, her hand resting over the front of her chest, glancing back behind her. She could still hear the sound of the teasing voices and horrible words being tossed in her direction. She could still feel the rush of fear as she was chased out by those who deemed her a cursed child.
Lower lip jutted out with a little whimper, as the tears seemed never ending much like the rainy atmosphere for the moment. Falling down to rest against her knees, the child whined out in desperation. One again she had been alone, cast away from everything she held dear save from the umbrella she had always carried with her. Hands were brought up to her soggy features, palms pressing against them, as she lightly began to sob.
It wasn’t fair. Why wouldn’t the rain stop? Why couldn’t it give her just a moment of bliss so she could play with all the other kids. Adjusting to sit against the ground, tucking her knees to her chest, and resting her face against them, she had no idea of where to go, or what to do.
The sudden sound of twigs moving breaking through the silence caught her attention. Bouncing curls of blue swayed this way and that as she scrambled to grab a stick closest to her. “G-go away...” Her trembling tone carried forward. There seemed to be no response, and the next thing she knew, her eyes had rested upon the slender small form of a snake.
“Oh-” the girl perked up a little with a sniffle. “You might not wanna come this way snakey...” She frowned as she spoke. “not unless you like when it rains.” Juvia gave a little shrug, as the reptile slithered a little closer to her, enough for her to get a good look at her.
“You have pretty scales, my name’s Juvia.” Her head tilted to the side, allowing a little smile rest upon her lips, while her eyes remained tear stained. It was a small relief to meet a docile creature such as this, giving her a little bit of hope that there was still a chance to be happy.
“Do you have a home little snakey?” She didn’t expect a response, but despite the company being just a snake, it didn’t stop her from being as polite and courteous as she could be.
“Here...”
Adjusting to reach behind her she reached for the umbrella resting alongside of her. Opening it up and resting the handle against the ground, so that if the snake wished she could use it as a shelter.
