one, two, someone’s coming for you...
Like many others she’d taken off running when the blood curdling screams rang out and the ballroom devolved into mass hysteria. Emmy had been ripped from her grasp in the tidal wave of fleeing guests and no matter how hard she tried to get back to her, it was impossible to fight against the flow of shoving bodies. After that she’d let instincts and blind panic propel her forward and out the nearest set of doors free of people trying to cram their way through.
Initially, she’d had every intention of cutting around the ballroom, making it back to the front, and finding her cousin and Colt. The country club was still widely unfamiliar to her, though, and the exit she’d chosen hadn’t led anywhere close to where she thought it would. It only seemed to lead deeper into the interior of the massive building. The hallways and rooms became a confusing blur as she tore a directionless path this way and that. Eventually she couldn’t even remember which way she’d come from. Without even trying she’d gotten herself well and truly lost.
Slowing her momentum until she’d almost reached a full stop Nikita took a moment to take stock of her surroundings. That was when the gravity of the situation suddenly hit her full force. She was completely alone with a killer on the loose... She’d seen enough movies to know that this was usually when things went south. It wouldn’t do her any good to just stand there frozen in fear forever, though. Closing her eyes against the threat of tears she took a deep breath that rattled in her chest and warred with the frantic beating of her heart. She had to make it out eventually if she just kept moving... right? With that thought in mind she gathered her courage and began to inch her way forward once more.
