I had a conversation with my mom on sunday on the phone and part of the conversation went something like this:
Mom: Maybe next year you will find a husband!
Me: Maybe!
Mom: Don't you want a husband!?
Me: Not at the moment.
Mom: Why not??
Me: *internally* I CAN'T COME OUT TO HER OVER THE PHONE AND IN FRONT OF THE ONE ROOMMATE WHO DOESN'T KNOW ABOUT ME.
Me: I'm just... not... in a place, emotionally, where I feel like... I'm ready for marriage.
Mom: What do you mean??
Me: Well, I have a lot going on and I feel like I should just focus on my schoolwork.
Mom: But I want grandchildren!!! 😭 (obviously she can't say the emoji, but it captures the vibe she was giving off)
Me: If someone comes along, I will give them a chance, but right now I am not actively trying to meet anyone. You still have the others to give you grandchildren!
Mom: I guess. Just so you know, I pray every day that you'll find a husband.
Me: I know, thanks mom.
Mom: I pray for your schoolwork too. It's not just for a husband.
Me: I know. I appreciate it. 😂
How do I break it to her that it's because I'm just not attracted to men right now? 🙃
