It’s funny how these things work out.. I’ve recently started thinking about my mini goals for 2025 and one of them is to use my sewing machine more, specifically to do 12 sewing projects (1 for each month). Christmas happened and I now have 2 dresses to take in a bit.
does anyone have any suggestions for letting out the waistband of this skirt? I really like it and I only need like an extra centimeter or two?
We don’t just alter dresses – we make them, too. We work closely with our clients to establish the look they’re after, frequently working from magazine pictures, photographs, Pinterest – and of course sketches by our clients. Our talented dressmakers then work to make the dress to these specifications. It’s an exciting process for us, and we pride ourselves on providing the highest standard of workmanship – we don’t cut corners and make sure the finish is of the highest standard. Come and talk to us about ball dresses, bridal gowns, bridesmaid’s dresses and mother-of-the-bride dresses.
Alterations are still at the heart of our business: many new garments such as bridal gowns, suits, trousers, shirts, need that final tweak to make them perfect and we love making our clients happy by offering a range of cost-effective alteration services. Whether it’s taking in or letting out, hemming a skirt or taking up a new pair of trousers, our friendly team can advise you on all aspects of the fitting and alterations process, and pride themselves on delivering perfectly fitted and well-constructed garments.
We’ve seen it all before: at Meg’s, we regularly make even the most challenging of repairs to damaged clothing and fabrics. Our experienced seamstresses and machinists regularly mend torn seat covers, indoor and outdoor furniture, broken zips, inside trouser legs, torn-off pockets, holes in jeans, damage to woollen garments – and everything in between.
We are London's foremost experts specialising in Ladies Alterations, Mens Alterations, Bridal Alterations and Suit Alterations

So I ordered some sew-on, embroidered patches from China (which arrived very promptly), including some extra patterns, and then set about hiding…
