Clothing Donations
So, you want to donate clothes for Philanthrofic, great! What can that look like?
I'm glad you asked!
With the donation of clothes, we advise that you first check the clothes you are planning to donate for damage and stains. Please avoid donating clothes that are ripped, threadbare, or stained, as charities will have a hard time making use of those donations. After all, you wouldn't want to wear a secondhand shirt with yellow stains on the underarms, so it stands to reason that the people receiving these donations don't want to either.
Once you have checked that your clothes are clean and intact, consider how useful the donation will be to those that receive it.
For example, one single T-shirt is not super useful, but a shirt, a pair of jeans, and some socks are the basics of a full outfit. Similarly, a sturdy jacket can go a long way, while a single hoodie might not be as useful. In terms of shoes, trainers/sneakers tend to wear out pretty quickly and will need to be replaced before long, so it is better to donate two or more pairs. By contrast, a pair of sturdy boots or work shoes have a much longer lifespan and thus a donation of a single pair is very useful.
With things like scarves and hats, it is best to either donate them in a group, with multiple of each item you are donating, or as part of a larger donation of other items.
