Ororo’s mouth drew into a tight line with a stiff, comprehending nod. She was merely a debt owed. They were once a family of well means, but when her mother passed away her father had to take out a loan to keep his business afloat while tending to her funeral arrangements. The months passed, and interest increased whilst his savings dwindled.
She also understood what was expected of a ‘good wife’. Ororo was told her whole life to remain chaste, and soon she was expected to give herself to a man who bought her. Now, she stood before a man who was rumored to be the definition of a heathen.
