Thank you for the love on my Muted Maxis UI!! <3 I have another release for you all - this time it’s a bundle of two for you to take your pick

These were created with the CloudUIRecolour Tool by @cowplantcartel !

The first one is called ‘True TS2’ - it’s made to look as close to the Sims 2 UI as I could get

The second one is called ‘Softer TS2’ - it uses a more toned-down, easier on the eyes colour palette, while still being reminiscent of TS2

You can only use one UI mod at once so take ur pick :P

I also recommend using these alongside the TS2 font replacement - as seen in my previews - you can download that here!

Download either UI as a .zip file (you can only have one in game at once!) and place the main package file in your: Sims 3 -> Mods -> Overrides folder

There are also patches for various mods included - if you have any of the following mods, plop the corresponding patch (.package) file in your mods folder (also check the readme files!)

The UIs will be incompatible with any other UI mod - and if you're replacing a previous UI you had installed, make sure you fully remove all the files associated with it from your mods folder

ANYWAY the Cloud UI Recolour Tool is currently waiting in the moderation queue on MTS so keep your eyes peeled!

I was kinda nervous to release this since I've never made an actual standalone program before, but after having a few of you ✨ wonderful ✨ people test it out I'm feeling a lot better about it! I was actually planning to have a longer testing period, but so far nobody has found any major crucial issues with the tool itself, they've mostly been issues with the underlying UI files.

For anyone wondering what this is ~ if you've seen Cloud Pink UI, this tool lets you edit the colours of the UI, fonts and background, and also lets you adjust the opacity of the UI to some extent. You can choose from a standard preset or create your own with any colour combination 🎨

I made an exciting discovery today...

I didn't realise that svg files could be edited like a regular text file. This means you can replace all the hex colour codes easily through a script.

I did ALL the images in Cloud Pink UI in Inkscape, so they're all svg files, and the rest are layout files which can be edited in the same way.

This means I can make ANY recolour in about 1 minute.

The recolours wouldn't just be limited to the pink parts either. You could easily recolour the white/grey parts too... so that means dark mode etc is possible.

There are a handful of images where I've applied a colour filter in Inkscape which aren't affected by my current script, but I'm pretty sure there's a way to do it.

So - my plan is to work out how to edit the filters in my script, then hopefully I can build a small tool that will let anyone add the colours they want and export the files (or a package if i can get that to work). So you can personalise your own UI to the exact colours you want! 😍

Here's my first test run doing this for Cloud Purple UI! I will need to edit the shades because some of them came out too dark, but wow I am genuinely shocked that this was so easy.

Oh my god, this was the most frustrating experience, but I finally worked out how to get the Nraas text readable in Dark Cloud UI.

You don't wanna know how many times I restarted my game with different UI files to fix this. You really don't.

When I was building Cloud UI I had to go through a bunch of LAYO (.layout) files. Sometimes the code comments were helpful to work out which sections were controlling what parts of the UI, and other times it was more like ~~
