Personal Quanzhi Gaoshou Fic Rec List
This is Part Four. I found a lot of stories Marked for Later in my ao3 history that I forgot to compile into a list. Exactly like last time. Prior to this, there were Part One, Part Two, and Part Three.
1. Ghost Flower, Ghost Feast
When Team Excellent Era, determined to uproot every last trace of Ye Xiu’s influence, places Su Mucheng up for trade during the S8 Winter Transfer Window, Su Mucheng is transferred to the only other pro team with a Launcher: Void.
Void’s Ghostblade Duo, now teammates with the player nicknamed their nemesis, deal with their unwanted front-row seat to Happy’s chaos, become unexpected mentors to an aspiring Ghostblade, and accidentally work out their relationship status along the way.
Meanwhile, Su Mucheng acquires a student of her own, learns how to play professional Glory without partnering Ye Xiu, and watches Excellent Era burn from a nice, safe, marshmallow-toasting distance.
2. In the World Anew
Su Mucheng had gone to bed in a Zurich hotel, in a room shared with Chu Yunxiu, buzzed with excitement and anxiety about the final match. Now, she was in an Excellent Era apartment, and specifically—based on the ticked-off days on the calendar—it’s her eighteenth birthday.
Su Mucheng’s breath catches in her chest. One part of her, as she realises that the time travel is real, is angry that she wasn’t sent back far enough to save her brother.
The rest of her starts calculating how to save Excellent Era from itself.
3. Best Practices
Conquering Clouds is a team that focuses on business more than the championship. This indelibly shapes Sun Xiang’s view of clubs and professional Glory in general; after all, he knows better than anyone what it means to say “it’s just good business.”
Excellent Era does not.
4. Foundations
Team Happy took home the GPA Season 10 Championship trophy. Su Mucheng and Fang Rui were invited to join the Chinese Glory Team at the Glory Worlds Invitational. Ye Xiu up and disappeared (even if he has resurfaced as the Chinese Team’s coach).
This leaves Chen Guo as the boss of Team Happy, hands full of more money and industry spotlight than she’d let herself imagine being possible, as she wonders: Can we do this again?
Fortunately for Chen Guo’s anxiety, she’s not alone. Tang Rou has always been at her side, and her drive and dedication are emblematic of every other member of Team Happy (no longer rookies, truly, after the past two years). Wei Chen is a constant presence as well, his own experiences as a first-generation player and raid boss giving Chen Guo much-needed insight.
Summer is going to be both too long and too short.
By the end of it, Chen Guo’s going to have made certain that Team Happy is ready for the year to come.
5. Just Starting Over
“It’s just starting over, Muqiu.” Ye Xiu echoed the words he had said so many times before.
Su Muqiu paused. True, it was just starting over. He had done it many times before—when his parents died and he and Mucheng were sent to the orphanage, when he discovered the orphanage was a front for trafficking so he took Mucheng and escaped, and when he woke up an eighteen-year-old in a twenty-eight-year old body, his legs crippled.
Starting over wasn’t new to him. Time might be limited, but why not strive for glory in what remained?
“Okay.” Muqiu looked up, determination glinting in his hazel eyes. “I’ll join Happy.”
6. The Passing of the Torch
In absence of a ready-made skilled successor to transfer in, Tao Xuan’s backup plan had always been Qiu Fei: the player from their training camp most likely to succeed Ye Qiu’s mantle.
7. Mirror Image
Being a twin looks a lot different from the inside. From the outside, it's a fantastical story.
Inside, it's his life.
8. Image in the Mirror
Being a twin isn't something you turn on or off; it just is.
Being your twin, though, is something else entirely.
9. Q: Woke up to find that I regressed to before my Pro debut, what should I do? Extremely urgent, SOS.
World Champion Fang Rui wakes up in his Blue Rain training camp dorm room, before his professional debut in the 5th Season of the Glory Pro League.
10. Another Ten Years
In which time finally has mercy. On some.
11. Honestly
Everyone knows Wu Xuefeng isn’t a liar.
12. Stealth 100
After Wu Xuefeng retires, it’s up to the rest of the Glory pros to carry on the epic legacy of “hide Ye Qiu from the press by whatever means necessary.” Some of them are better at it than others.
13. Mistakes Were Made
If you're going to stream your exploits, you have to be prepared for things to go wrong. Things will always, inevitably, eventually go wrong.
14. 2 Avatars Go to a Gaming Convention
One Autumn Leaf and Lord Grim jump out of the game to visit Ye Xiu. Will they be able to navigate their way through the human realm and an entire gaming convention to find him?
15. what makes a menace
Compelled by some heretofore undetected spirit of mischief, Yu Wenzhou said, aloud, in front of the whole country, “He’s not only our precious leader. He’s our emotional support boyfriend.”
16. burn blue
Xu Boyuan is great at making friends. So is Ye Xiu.
17. ah, capitalism
Ye Xiu reviews Glory merchandise. Chairman Feng takes pills.
18. fourteen
Why is Fang Rui Chinese Glory Team number 14?
19. knowing you to understand me
Zhou Zekai on Ye Xiu, over the years.
Some of these are old, some of these are new. All of them were thoroughly enjoyable to read. I still have not watched Season 3 of the ONA yet, because I heard about the great name debacle—through a fanfic, no less—and I did not have the energy to deal with that. Season 2 of the live action is still MIA, but I am hopeful.
