I mean, Seb could absolutely be a self-righteous prick (well, from the perspective of Marian Hawke, noted blood mage). But honestly part of the appeal of the game is that every companion is somewhere on the spectrum of “human dumpster fire doing their best” to “recurring villain of a different game”.
Like, your party consists of
-Mage Rights terrorism boi -Hedonistic, nearly amoral pirate captain -Incredibly mobbed up “merchant” -Blood Mage/demonologist/ancient relic hunter -Magically enhanced assassin (escaped) slave whose about one bad week from snapping -The Mom Friend, who is a cop.
It would take very little rewriting to turn Hawke and friends into high fantasy supervillains, is what I mean.
