Do you think Flamepaw will get a love interest? Maybe either Sunbeam or Frostpaw (I personally hope it's not Frostpaw, I dont want them pulling around Crow/Leaf)
It’s too early to say, but probably? He’s training to be a warrior, and every warrior protagonist so far has gotten a love interest, (except Hollyleaf) so I wouldn’t say it’s unlikely. If he had to be mates with either of the other main characters, I think him with Frostpaw would make the most sense. Their names are opposites and I think that’s cool! Frost is cold, while flames are hot! I do have to admit though that forbidden love is way over-utilized. and whenever it inevitably happens, most if not all of the same exact plot points are used every time. Especially if the romance involves a medicine cat. “The cats are in love! But oh no! Cats say they can’t be in love! But they love each other anyway!” It just gets kind of boring after awhile. This issue would also apply to him and Sunbeam though.
I’m not the biggest hater of forbidden love. It is just as well written as any other romance, which isn’t very much by the way. It does look like this archetype will change though, considering the clans will rewrite the Warrior Code in A Starless Clan. If the cats change the law so cats across clans can get married, it would no longer be forbidden and thus lose all its spice and drama. Melodramatic shenanigans is the only reason half-clan romance exists, so they will probably stop doing it all together.
My theory is that Flamepaw will get with Myrtlepaw. I know they are related, (Flamepaw’s grand-aunt is Leafpool whose great-granddaughter is Myrtlepaw) but they are further enough apart that the Warriors team won’t notice, and that’s basically all it takes for a couple to become canon in Warriors. I’m not saying I want them to be together- I’m only saying it’s likely.
