DISENCHANTMENT 4.08 - Spy Vs. Spy Vs. Spy
rip that pussy(cat)
There are differences between the characters of Gidney and Cloyd in the original Rocky and Bullwinkle series, the comic book stories prior to 2014, and the 2018 reboot (which is actually a reimagining of the original).
In the original series, Gidney and Cloyd were initially one-dimensional and portrayed as typical alien characters with a hint of their backstory. Their goal was to prevent a moose and squirrel from recreating the formula. But instead, they become media celebrities and eventually American citizens (sorta...). Later towards the end of the first story arc, Rocky and Bullwinkle used the mooseberry rocket fuel to bring the two back to their home planet and the rest is history.
In the 1960 two-part comic story, "The Magnetic Moose", the two Moon Men reverted to their initial one-dimensional antagonistic personalities as if nothing had happened. This time, they were going to kidnap Bullwinkle for love and money to the raging moon girls. After losing him, they chose ribbons for the moon girls to wear and their love for Bullwinkle had waned.
In "Missouri Mish Mash", Cloyd was the one with the scrooch gun and Gidney is the smart one. But in the 1987 comic book story "The Kirward Derby", Gidney is the one with the scrooch gun and Cloyd is the smart one. Although there is one brief moment about the power of invisibility, as told by Gidney in the original series.
The 2018 reboot story arc, "The Dark Side of the Moose", repurposed the duo into a generic family that bears little to no resemblance to the originals. They don't have the ability to speak English, have multiple mouths (like horrific aliens in modern movies) and blast people with their laser eyes. While the changes were made for a younger demographic, I still prefer the scrooch gun and their original intent as best friends nonetheless.
