"Don't follow a fox into the woods" My mom had told me when i was younger, 6 years old and curious to hear stories from her.
-‐-----
"Mommy, people hunt alot in the forests, don't they?"
"Yes, sweetheart. Since our towns so far away from anywhere else, alot of the meat we get is from the forest."
"My friend told me that during fox season people don't go hunt! He said cuz they're dumb and that foxes were stupid."
"Ah, sweetie. Foxes are smart, you know. But, the reason why nobody hunts foxes is because The Snow."
"The snow? But, fox season is when its warm!"
"Ah, i wasn't talking about the snow, darling. There's a mysterious snow white fox thats said to live in these woods, and lures people through, leading them to their demise."
"Ew, that sounds like a bad fox!"
"Yes, sweetheart. Thats why you should never ever follow a fox into the woods."
----------
I stared down at the foliage, eyes blurry with tears as i raced past the woods, god why didn't i listen?! I huffed as i skid past an oak tree, almost ramming into another tree infront of me as i halted to see a white blur pass infront of me. A twig snapped behind me, and i swung my head around. Shit. She found me. A tall, grinning figure in an almost Victorian age dress approached where i was cornered against the trees, axe swinging side to side as it hummed a tune. As the figure approached in the pitch black, it raised the axe above their head and. I looked to the side, only to see a snow white fox staring back.
"Never follow a fox into the woods." Fae sighed, rolling faer eyes. "What a silly phrase."
(Im kinda bad at writing so!!! Hope this suffices father :))
