India: Maharashtra CM Eknath Shinde announces ‘New Healthcare Vision 2035’
CM Eknath Shinde, the chief minister of the state, has ordered the administration to double public health spending and improve the health system, particularly in rural regions, on a war footing, in order to ensure that such incidents don't occur again. The recent deaths of 31 persons in a government hospital in the western Indian state of Maharashtra during a 48-hour period highlighted various concerns about the state's healthcare system. Additionally, the Chief Minister has given the go-ahead for super-specialty hospitals to be built in each of the state's 34 districts.
CM Eknath Shinde The statement was made at a high-level gathering that was also attended by Devendra Fadnavis and Ajit Pawar, the state's deputy chief ministers. Healthcare financing and hiring were also on the agenda during the discussion. The Chief Minister has ordered that equipment and medications be purchased right away. The ability to use scheduled funds for purchases has been granted to all district collectors. They must always have access to the life-saving medications, and any shortage will not be tolerated. At least 25 out of the 34 districts are in urgent need of new hospitals. In light of this, the Chief Minister has ordered the establishment of brand-new, completely functional district hospitals and the deadline for submitting the project's blueprint is 15 days. The CM has ordered the creation of nine additional health circles in addition to the current eight, taking into account the need for healthcare, particularly in government and public hospitals. The government frequently receives complaints that its hospitals are unclean and lack sufficient sanitation; in response, the CM has ordered authorities to make routine inspections to guarantee high levels of cleanliness. The CM has instructed the relevant officials to prepare the draft of the "New Healthcare Vision 2035" within the next 15 days. On 23rd July, News18 did a story on President Murmu and things/stories related to her, her hometown etc. This photo is taken from that article claiming her to be Sukumar Tudu, a Safai Karmchari who felt proud when she heard about Murmu being selected as present and celebrated. News18 wrote: "At Uparbeda’s primary health centre, we meet Sukumar Tudu, who works as a safai karmachari in the hospital and earns about Rs 1,500 a month. Sukumar and her husband Baiyadhar Tudu have one-acre land and have to work as daily wagers to make end meet. She, along with many others, had danced and feasted the evening before Droupadi Murmu was elected President. Sukumar swells with pride when she speaks about someone from her community earning the highest job in the country, but her joy is tempered by the harshness of her own life."
