@nolittlegermanboy shit i almost pinged the wrong little german boy. same about blocking people lol (used to do it less) and about barely knowing what's going on here and much less elsewhere.
tbf i don't think that hetalia worlds stars: gangsta is thaaat tonally different, but having the characters in an alternative universe different to our world (when before it was the same but with gijinkas and magic and creatures; urban fantasy as someone else has called heta before :3), and also the characters being the "bosses" instead of being ordered around, aaand most likely being human, changes things a bit. that being said also this change has happened more than once: from wild webcomic with things such as old fran.ce going on rampages during events (and not just him was like that!), to published seinen manga (axis powers), to shounen (world stars). along the way the manga lost its focus on history, especially post hiatus i would say (stopped in 2018 and came back in 2021 [#369]); i don't remember chapters that weren't contemporary since there. focus in cultural and economic (🙄) trivia isn't bad of course, but what got a lot of fans into hetalia was history, besides the pretty designs and the fanservice. the same and yet different.
