This is a beautiful photo of Anthracite Creek in Somerset, Colorado from the Erickson Springs Campground. It really is a rare sight to see fall colors and snowy mountains at the same time, yet this has happened two years in a row now for 2016 and 2017. Stop by the campground for a quick photo, a long picnic, or the night. Anthracite Creek is worth the view.

Above the Aspens

Marcellina Mountain is a part of my favorite autumn road trip in Colorado.

The 11,348′ Marcellina Mountain rises abruptly out of the sea of quaking Aspen trees in Colorado’s Elk Mountain Range. Marcellina is one of many mountains that rise above the Aspens in Colorado’s largest Aspen forest. You can find Marcellina along CO 12, a dirt road that runs through the heart of the Aspen forest west of Crested Butte. This is a part of my favorite autumn road trip.
