Provaris Energy: Robotics Breakthrough Accelerates Next-Generation H₂ & CO₂ Tank Development in Norway
Provaris Energy has taken a major step forward in its hydrogen and CO₂ tank program with the full commissioning of its robotic fabrication cell and rapid progress on construction of the H₂ Prototype Tank at Fiskå, Norway. The breakthrough positions Provaris as a global leader in large-scale compressed gas storage solutions, attracting strong interest from strategic partners including “K” Line, Yinson Production, Harbour Energy and Clarksons.
The prototype tank - 2.5m wide, 9m long and 34 tonnes of steel - is being built using a world-first layered plate design with precision laser-welding capable of nanometre accuracy, enabling scalable production for commercial hydrogen and CO₂ carriers.
Partners visiting the facility witnessed the robotic system in action, with many noting that this level of automation is “rare” in traditional maritime and oil & gas fabrication. The robotic cell is now fully calibrated, with welding activities ramping up ahead of a Q1 2026 prototype completion.
The prototype will undergo lifetime-equivalent load-cycle testing to validate long-term structural performance, forming a core component of Provaris’ H2Neo marine classification program and the CO₂ FEED studies underway with Yinson.
💬 Martin Carolan, Managing Director & CEO, commented:
“We’re excited to show the industry what this robotic system can achieve. With welding now accelerating, we’re on track for our 2026 targets and demonstrating how this technology can scale for future hydrogen and CO₂ carriers.”
📊 Investor Outlook
