Bloggers We Adore: A Radiant Q&A with Erika from Radiant Republic
Today, we are excited to chat with Boston-based Erika from Radiant Republic on our blog. We love seeing Erika's style of "innately New England, while weak-kneed for Southern charm" in her home.
The name of your blog is so creative! Why the name and how did you start blogging?
Thank you so much! I began blogging in early 2011 during a quest for a creative outlet by which to share interior design musings and inspirations. "Radiant" has been a favorite adjective since my introduction to its meaning during a 3rd grade Charlotte's Web reading. Radiant Republic was a perfect name for my blog because it was general enough to allow my blog to grow into a vessel for various discussions.
What’s a fun fact about you that’s currently not on your “about” page?
My family and I recently tried out for Family Feud! Unsuccessfully. Oops!
Describe your personal home style in 3 adjectives.
What are your favorite finds/things in your own home?
My favorite belongings have been collected over the years. My husband and I treasure our families' heirlooms and old photographs. We work them into our home decor by decorating with other collected pieces, like vintage chests found at estate sales and ship models from childhood.
Its finally Spring! Given that there are such clear distinctions of seasons in Boston, what are the top things that you do to get your home ready for Spring?
I love switching out curtains, area rugs and throw pillows for brighter colors, lighter textures and lots of patterns. These simple switches give our home a new look for the warmer seasons!
What do you see emerging as the top colors this season in the home?
Greens - but not just in the lauded Emerald variety. Seafoams, kelly greens and antique moss hues are making their way into spring design schemes. People are pairing colors with a greater sense of adventure this season, too. Cobalt blues contrasted with bright yellows are among the many daring color duos we can expect to see in the new season.
What’s next for Radiant Republic?
Soon, Radiant Republic will transition to ErikaMcMahon.com, where I will continue my explorations of interior design and pepper in personal stories of entrepreneurialism and small business strategy.
And of course, what’s your favorite Crane & Canopy bedding!
I absolutely LOVE the bedding! It reminds me of the iconic photograph of Jenna Lyons in her Manhattan bedroom. The coral border is a perfectly soft, warm hue and would make my New England coastal home feel a little warmer and tropical!
