12 Days of Ficmas - Day 7
Day 7: Your favorite series OR Historical or fantasy AU
This should surprise absolutely no one who knows me
Title: Loaded March series by Footloose Fandom: Merlin Pairing: Merthur (Arthur Pendragon/Merlin Emrys) with various background pairings
There have been so many great things said about this series, I won’t even attempt to do it justice. It is simply incredible. A well thought out plot, interesting characters and a magic reveal that I wished would have happened in the show.
And because this one was such an obvious choice, let me rec you some more series’ that need more love:
Title: Little Crow series by cobain_cleopatra Fandom: Dishonored Pairing: Daud/Corvo Attano
This series. This series. It is probably the series I have reread the most, actually.
Instead of being the Royal Protector, Corvo grows up as one of the Whalers, quietly pining after an oblivious Daud.
The plot sets off around the events of The Knife of Dunwall & The Brigmore Witches, and while Jessamine’s assassination still happened it is mostly background, just without the whole Royal Protector taking the fall for it - as this nameless one, unlike Corvo in the game, dies early of the rat plague.
I don’t want to spoil too much as it is so worth a read, even if you do not know much about the game.
Title: Howling series by AndreaLyn (on going!) Fandom: Hawaii 5-0 Pairing: McDanno (Steve McGarrett/Danny Williams)
A supernatural AU with such an interesting world building that it leaves me in awe. Also hilarious. I adore all the different kind of creatures here, and all the choices for the team. Reading things from Danny’s perspective - who is mostly just done with everyone’s shit - is so much fun.
Title: Witchboy series by tothewillofthepeople (on going!) Fandom: Les Misérables Pairing: Granjolras (Enjolras/Grantaire) with some background pairings
Magic AU! And such an interesting one as well. It starts off with a cursed Enjolras who gets pointed in the direction of Grantaire - a blind one, at that! - since he is knows as one of the best curse breakers in Paris. It takes off from there with Enjolras learning more about the different kinds of magic and while neither Grantaire nor Enjolras admit any kind of romantic feeling for each other, yet, they form a very unique connection.
Once again, it is such an interesting world that has been build here, and I also love that for once it is Enjolras who stumbles into the Amis and who is out of his depth.
Just, every new part is a delight to read and I can’t wait to see where this will head off to in the future.
