God, I’ve got a Grantaire Enjolras angsty brainworm in my head and can’t decide which direction to take it, so gonna crowdsource it.
Enjolras tires of Grantaire’s flippancy, saying he is full of “nothing but falsity and wine”. Grantaire levels Enjolras with an expression between amusement and challenge, with perhaps a touch of that recklessness that comes from being just drunk enough to be bold.
“You want the truth? Very well. I’ll make you a wager. Thirty minutes—until the bell of Saint-Germain l’Auxerrois ring the hour. Ask me anything you like. Anything at all. And I will answer with complete, utter, brazen honesty.”
And good lord, Grantaire speaks the truth.
In what context could the emotional impact be the most “ooomph”:
Alone. There is nothing to filter or soften Grantaire’s words for Enjolras
Before Les Amis. Anything Enjolras discovers must be processed before witnesses
