Hoberg’s. Cobb Mountain. On the way to Hardesters, the grocery store. Four months after the Valley Fire.
It’s always the Coke machine that gets me! The fire burned through the floor between two levels so quickly that it left the Coke machine standing upright like building blocks. And yet, the Coke machine, of all things, survived to be recognizable, while whole cars and the walk-in freezer melted too pools of glass and metal.
Hello there.
Valley fire perimeter map
This Valley Fire that is happening in Northern California has given me the biggest reality check today. The fact that I’m sitting at home in my bed thinking about how I’ve had a bad day, when there are thousands of families that have been or are being evacuated from their homes, that’s even if they have a place to call home now, makes me so sad. I didn’t even realize how bad it was until tons of customers at my work were bringing or buying hundreds of dollars worth of groceries for donations.
& the fact that the fire is only about 2 hours away from where I live is terrifying as well. It’s traveled over 50,000 miles in less than 24 hours and engulfed an entire town in hours. I’m scared to see how far it will get over night.

7 Minutes: Sensitive Skin
There is a buzzing in my ears,
blending with the indigo of fears,
tears are copper tacks, rusting under trees,
my heart so far away from me.
Yet, I call, I still believe,
ten thousand mornings await for me.
We are flowers that fly in the wind.
You breath on my sensitive skin,
Is the forever I hold within.

7 Minutes:
I’ve lost my gravatar picture. I’ve cleared my cache. Reset the email. And keep waiting to see if it will update. Frustrating. Wordpress is not intuitive. But I waste my 7 minutes today.
Bay leaves. I need to write about the bay leaves that have been in my pocket for the last day. Gail and I walked on Boggs Mountain yesterday, ending our walk along the Creek Trail, talking about healing our…
