Higher Learning Commission accredited institution Maranatha Baptist University is promoting a new “Bridge to Campus” at ol’ CoBeAc camp. CoBeAc has been promoting it on their Facebook feed.
Remember that MBU has a new dean who sometimes pretends to be a Marine too -- a dean whose father has been the Trump of Christian Camping for decades now.
But putting that aside. . . . this new “Bridge” is suspicious. It started in February 2016, so MBU has had plenty of time to inform its accreditors. Notice the weasel words in their promotion:
QUALITY CHRISTIAN ACADEMICS
Bridge to Campus courses are taught by academically and spiritually qualified faculty to the same high standards as all Maranatha courses. Maranatha Baptist University is regionally accredited through the Higher Learning Commission. Course credits easily transfer to other schools.
MBU is regionally accredited, but CoBeAc isn’t. That’s plain if you read what they are saying.
Notice that HLC does not know anything about Maranatha’s second campus:
If any alumnus wants to address this to MBU or its accreditors, the procedure is outlined here.
However, WutBJU has to say:
Bob Jones University, if you ever try this slight-of-hand with your potential accreditors, there’s a large team of alumni ready and willing to address the problem.
