I wonder if hedgehogs are the fastest to size (does that make sense?) mammals. I assume Sonic had little to no actual reasoning to him being a hedgehog but man wouldn’t it be funny. The fastest animal to size is a cockroach. Imagine if Sonic was a cockroach <3
Well Sonic as a cockroach is a pretty funny mental image, honestly sometimes I do look at him and think "this man gives off cockroach energy, he's sneaky, he's fast, he get's into places he shouldn't be able to and he's hard to kill!"
Though speaking of cockroaches my friend has a cockroach mobian version of their character named ronald, in a mobian au I own. so that's alot of fun!
