You guys know I’m a bourbon girl. But I’ve been expanding my cocktail repertoire (look at me all fancy schmancy) and had to share this deliciousness. I’ve never had chartreuse before but it has a very cool history. Made by Monks in France from 130 botanicals as far back as the 1600s. And this very old cocktail also has an interesting history originating at the Detroit Athletic Club by a vaudevillian in the prohibition era. I think it’s fucking stellar. Here is the recipe for the Last Word. And FYI, I doubled it to fill my coupe glass.

Last Word

3/4 oz fresh lime juice

3/4 oz Gin

3/4 oz Chartreuse

3/4 oz Luxardo cherry liqueur

Shake (good 30 seconds) with ice and strain into a chilled coupe glass. CHEERS!
