Ready for a Redguard redesign? Children of the Wave might be for you!
I've covered every Redguard NPC in Vanilla Skyrim, adding a lot of new, unique, and lore-friendly detail. This includes aging textures, custom warpaints and piercings, and a TON of new hairstyles (thanks to HammerHair!)
From left to right we have:
Calvin ‘Junior’ Bell (Age 7)
Christine ‘Chris’ Bell (Age 16)
Calvin Bell (Age 35)
Thomas Bell (Would be Age 6)
This story takes place in the middle 1970s, so I did a lot of research on what people were wearing during that time, and what kind of handmedowns Chris would receive from her grandparents.
I also took heavy inspiration for the art style from cartoons from that era as well.
WIP: Children of the Wave - A Redguard NPC Overhaul pt 3
Covering a random assortment of ladies and fellas this time.
Salma - a young adventure from High Rock, testing out her dungeon delving chops.
Ennis - a simple Redguard farmer, misses his goat (you monster) :(
Seren - a blacksmith in Dawnstar, suffering from the nightmare curse. She worries for the future of her unborn child.
Razelan - a drunken merchant whose sole purpose is to serve as a distraction at the Thalmor party. I decided to headcanon that he may have once been a noble man, who had to do terrible things to get an in with the Thalmor (it wasn't worth it.)
Nazir - you know this guy ;) I liked his original design so I mostly just tweaked his features slightly, gave him some new brows, and some paint.
Rayya - it seems like everyone gets rid of or replaces her original warpaint, but I really like it so it stays.
WIP: Children of the Wave - A Redguard NPC Overhaul
So this is the start of my first sizable human NPC overhaul, so here goes. I feel like Redguards got very little customization options when it comes to hair especially, so I'm adding a lot of variation there, as well as the usual edits of CoDB (high poly heads, new skin features, eye colors, skin textures based on age, etc.)
Starting with Whiterun NPCs (plus Zaria)
Ahlam - a healer at the temple of Kynareth, and Nazeem's long suffering wife. I gave her some hair ornemetation that reflects her devotion to the nature goddess.
Nazeem - pompous and braggadocios, and while his original look became kind of iconic to him, it's actually just the default Redguard face. I gave him a fussy little goatee and judgemental eyebrows.
Amren - a warrior who has lost his family sword, Saffir's husband and Braith's father.
Saffir - she just wants go home and read.
Brenuin - a simple beggar.
Saadia - a woman with a past she'd rather not catch up to her.
My next project is a Breton and Reachmen redesign. I think I have the base work finished so I can actually start on the character redesigns. In the meantime, here's a look at some of the edits I'm including in my mod:
Textures
Like my other elf and human mods, the NPCs will have textures assigned by loose age categories: Young, Mature, Middle Aged, and Elder.
By default, Bretons have fairly wrinkly faces, so I smoothed them out for the younger folks and gave them all slight brow ridges.
Ears
Bretons will have little points on their ears to reflect their elven heritage.
Reachmen Tattoos
I've made modular variants of Reachmen and Forsworn tattoos in order to add more variety. Definitely gonna be working up some more variety.
