So on this episode of Code Lyoko the plot is that Jeremy is obsessed with this fight he had with Aelita and wants to be virtualized so he can personally apologize face-2-face. The "fight" though?

Jeremy: We need to work better together so we don't make mistakes in this materialization process !!!

Aelita: k lol

I kind of forgot how much I liked A Fine Mess? For my shipping heart, it's got some fun Ulumi hints, but also we had a lot of Odd/Yumi potential?? Why does no one ever ship those two?

Anyway, my actual point for this is that I love how the writers were like "Don't worry! Yumi kept Odd's clothes on the whole time so it's not inappropriate to have teenagers switch bodies!"

But also Ulrich apparently got changed at some point in the same room?? Or maybe he went to the bathroom? Unclear

AND THEN! Just in case you were going to ignore that, we have Odd undeniably changing Yumi's clothes not once but TWICE 😂

This show is too much sometimes. What a wild ride

finally the episode where Ulrich writes the president, gambles illegally, and abuses the rttp 😭😭😭😭

honestly why isn't everyone more impressed that Ulrich launched the return to the past on his own??

this is probably my favorite Ulrich scene, second only to him writing the best poem I've ever heard. I'm so disappointed with the writing decision to have the group kick him out... what was even the point??

Watching Saint Valentine's Day with this scene:

reminded me of this other time XANA possessed one of the girls and tried to kiss Jeremie:

Can we talk about how cute Yumi was being in a Bad Turn the morning after?? She and Ulrich had this super saturated, longing-looks good bye the night before after going to the factory AND AS FAR AS SHE KNOWS, she and Ulrich are in a really positive, flirty phase and things are going great!

He's clearly pouting and she gives him the cutest, softest little wave 😭

This was just her natural response before she knew he had seen the whole William thing and it's so adorable 😭😭😭 She just clearly likes him so much and he so rarely gets to see it

All right, you know I had to make a whole post about Routine now that I've gotten here in my re-watch

Honestly, I don't even have THAT much to say about it, but it's a big moment for the Ulumi team and I know a lot of other people hate it so

First things first:

Yumi shouldn't have grabbed Ulrich like that. We all generally agree this was a bad move.

I do understand why the writers did it (and I don't mind that they did) - Yumi has a temper, they're kids who don't have words for their big feelings, and we know Yumi and Ulrich beat each other up on a regular basis anyway. They communicate very physically in general (which is a conversation for later) so I do like the scene, even though it's a bad look for my girl.

They're all kids and flawed characters. I'm glad they're not perfect.

(Still, I want to be so clear, I'm not saying she was right or defending her actions! She was wrong here, for sure.)

Next thought:

I think people sometimes forget that Yumi wasn't ONLY mad that Ulrich was talking to another girl. She was mad (she thought) because he had been dating Emily secretly for two months!

When she first sees Ulrich and Emily talking, she's jealous and embarrassed and sad, but she's not mad about it until Sissi tells her that Ulrich has been keeping his relationship with Emily a secret for two months and lying to her!

I'd be hurt by that too!

Now, should she have believed Sissi? Should she have just asked Odd or talked to Ulrich about it instead of sitting and stewing?

Yeah, obviously, but see my first point. She's in her emotional brain, not her logical brain, right now.

Next thought:

We're jumping back chronologically a little because this also stuck out to me, but it's not as important as the first two.

I was SO disappointed that Yumi did not go with Ulrich when he invited her to get an ice cream in town. He is so clearly trying to be brave and vulnerable even though it would be just them two.

But she says she can't. Devastating.

Maybe she really did just have to study and didn't notice that Ulrich was dying on the inside.

Personally, I think this is a perfect example of their early dynamic which is: Ulrich is crushing so hard but trying to keep it cool, and EVEN THOUGH YUMI RETURNS HIS FEELINGS, she also feels responsible for literally everything in the world. (i.e. what happens to the group if they date, what if Ulrich realizes he doesn't actually like her anymore, what if they fight too much, what if she hurts him accidentally, what if xana uses it against them, etc.)

Last thought:

What a tease! We made so much progress in ONE EPISODE but there's so little explanation of what happens behind the scenes.

We obviously need some more time, and I do think it was wise that they didn't jump into a relationship right here. They weren't ready. It wouldn't have worked. yada yada yada

I am curious how it would have gone though. Who knows how far they would've made it before they totally broke each other?

Bonus last thought:

This is just such a cute moment. Ulrich is such a good boy and you can see Yumi's thoughts all over her face here. He literally (physically) was there for her and supporting her, and she is just swooning 😭😭

I love the little moments like these where you can tell how badly Yumi wants to give in sometimes and just be honest about her feelings and be with Ulrich.

Sigh.
