As excited as she was for the new school year. The beginning of Hiroshi’s third year at college wasn’t starting out so well. The car got a flat tire, and there wasn’t a spare to change it with. When Hiroshi finally arrived, some white-haired asshole bumped into her. He made her spill all the things she was carrying and didn’t bother to help at all. He gave her a look of disgust and kept walking. Hiroshi furrowed her eyebrows as he walked away. Something about him seemed vaguely familiar. She promised herself she’d remember his face and would happily ignore him. After gathering up her things, Hiroshi arrived at her dorm. She expected to find her friend and dormmates there. They left a note saying where they went and for her to join, but after the terrible start to the day, she decided that she’d just stay in for the night. For the next week, Hiroshi settled in and eagerly awaited for school to start by scouting out all of the best cafes and places to eat close to her dorm with her best friend, Misaki.
As she settled into her routine of classes, homework, socializing, she had remembered her incident with the white-haired jackass. She got mad all over again about the situation and knew she cared too much for no reason. Hiroshi had heard rumors over the next few weeks about this man, who everyone thought was the essence of perfection. The details of him varied, but not by much. He had white hair and the lightest of blue eyes. It didn’t matter where you went, it seemed he was the talk of college.
One night while relaxing, and unfortunately, studying in her favorite café, she was sipping on some cranberry juice. Misaki ran up to Hiroshi with a big smile on her face and a very excited squeal that burst from her throat.
“HIROOOOSHI!!!!” Hiroshi rolled her eyes at her friend. Misaki could definitely get anyone’s attention entering a room like that. Hiroshi chuckled quietly to herself as her friend neared.
“I just saw THE HOTTEST guy ever.” Misaki continued. For the next ten minutes, she talked about this guy. It wasn’t as if they had a conversation or even knew each other. They simply met and Misaki swooned. Hiroshi loved her friend for her ever-fleeting various love interests.
The rest of the semester continued like this. Misaki would always hang out with Hiroshi while studying. She’d spill all the gossip she heard when people didn’t think she was around. She heard about breakups, hookups, and otherwise useless fodder to Hiroshi. Hiroshi loved the fact that Misaki would just sit and not get mad when she was concentrating. Sometimes, it seemed as if she’d explode if she didn’t tell Hiroshi everything. She was her best friend for a reason. Finals and winter break came and went. While everything seemed to happen quickly, Hiroshi was happy that the first half of the school year was over.
When she went home for the holiday break, she was happy to be able to relax or so she thought. With the flurry of activities of the season and preparation of the influx of guests, you were left more tired than relaxed. The yearly holiday party Hiroshi’s family hosted was always the talk of the town. It was a big, broad, decorated affair. There was always something for everyone to do there. Hiroshi was thankful she didn’t have to actually plan any of it. So the night of the party, Hiroshi’s only task was to greet the guests. As they came in, she thanked them for coming and pointed the way to the coatroom. After an hour, almost everyone was there, including Misaki, who always attends every family function. Hiroshi made rounds with the neighbors and family friends just before grabbing a quick appetizer to eat off a plate as it was going by. She popped it in her mouth, just as Misaki came running over to her. “Hiro, he’s here!” Misaki was shaking with excitement as she pointed toward the door. Hiroshi didn’t know whom she was referring to but whoever it was made Misaki blush.
At the door stood a white-haired, blue-eyed man in a suit. Hiroshi recognized him instantly. He was the jackass that bumped into her on her first day of school. Something deep inside her couldn’t help but feel like she knew him before school.
“He’s nothing great.” Hiroshi quipped and walked away. She didn’t care to see him at all and honestly gave a damn about what he was doing here. Hiroshi’s father came up to her sometime later to have her meet a coworker of his with a son about her age. She was face to face with him now. She tried her hardest to ignore him and look as pleasant as possible. She’d never do anything to disgrace or annoy her parents.
“This is my daughter, Hiroshi.” He said proudly. Hiroshi gave a small smile and curtsy.
“This is my son, Jack. I was telling you the other day.” Her father’s coworker spoke. Hiroshi kept her smile plastered on her face until the interaction was done.
“Hey.” Jack said as unenthusiastically as he possibly could. He looked more bored than you did when Hiroshi’s physics professor was teaching. She just smiled, grabbed his drink, and “accidentally” spilled it all over him.
“Oh, sorry, I am so clumsy.” Hiroshi feigned empathy and walked away. You were sure that her father would ask you about what just happened in private, but that wouldn’t happen now. She decided you’d calm down outside. Misaki followed closely behind, wanting the details of what she just witnessed. Following quickly on her heels was Jack.
As Hiroshi walked outside, letting the cold air wash over her as she was trying to calm down, he grabbed her by the arm.
“What the hell?” His face was twisted with anger. “You purposely spilled my drink on me.” He spat at her with more venom holding her arm more tightly. Hiroshi ripped her arm away from Jack.
“Who do you think you are? How dare you put your hands on me!” She screamed at him. Misaki knew what was about to unfold. Hiroshi cocked her arm back ready to hit him in the face. Misaki readied her camera for the fight she was about to see. With a loud crack, there was a grunt followed by the sight of blood drops against the bright whiteness of the snow. Jack got off his knees and gave Hiroshi a crooked grin. He walked back into the house. Misaki stood in awe staring at her best friend.
“I didn’t think you’d actually do it,” Misaki whispered after a moment. Honestly, neither did Hiroshi. She was filled with rage, an emotion she found rather primitive and useless. However, she did feel much better after. She let out a breath and walked back inside to ice her slightly swollen hand. The rest of the party went smoothly, just like the rest of her holiday break. Before she knew it, Misaki and Hiroshi were heading back to school to start their new semester.
She looked forward to this literature class she was taking, the professor was well-liked on campus. As difficult as his classes were to get into, you were happy that you got in. Hiroshi made sure she arrived a few moments before class started to scoop out a decent seat, and unfortunately, there were only a few left in the way back. So Hiroshi grumbled her way to the back of the lecture hall. As she sat down, the professor walked in talking a million miles a minute. You could see why he was so well-liked. He had this cool, calm demeanor, and he seemed to make everyone feel at ease. He had started going through his syllabus and class expectations when Jack came in the door. All eyes were on him. Hiroshi heard a group of girls audibly sigh at him. She wanted to gag at how deplorable they were acting. Jack mumbled an apology to the professor, ignored the gaggle of girls, and walked to a seat. His eyes connected with Hiroshi’s for a moment and she swore he hesitated before sitting in the only empty spot in the lecture hall.
Hiroshi couldn’t roll her eyes hard enough. She swore a group of girls had whispered about how lucky Hiroshi was. She felt anything but lucky. If she was early enough maybe one of the whispering girls could have their chance and sit next to Jack.
“So for our first assignment, we’re going to get to know our work partner for the semester. At the end of the semester, we will be giving a presentation together about your favorite classic literature piece. For our first victim, Mr. Rutherford, you may choose anyone in the class to work with. Since you decided to be late today. My advice to all in this room is to choose wisely.” All the other females in the room looked at Jack with hope in their eyes and eagerness in their faces. Jack barely glanced around before his eyes settled on Hiroshi.
“I choose Hiroshi as my partner.” He announced as a collective sigh left the lips of the girls in the class. Hiroshi swore she was hearing things. When she finally understood what he said, she snapped her head up. He gave his casual, nonchalant, smile at her. She wasn’t very pleased with this. She wanted nothing to do with Jackass, as she had so sweetly nicknamed him.
“Alright, very good. Next” Their professor annotated the selections one by one. By the end of the class, most of the partnered students were talking and actually getting to know one another. Hiroshi planned to have very little to do with him. Even if there was a ridiculous nagging in the back of her mind. She sat there quietly reading over the syllabus. Jack tried to talk to her, but she froze him out. When they were dismissed, she was the first out the door. She sent a text to Misaki and continued her day.
Jack left feeling like absolute trash. Ever since the holiday party, he hadn’t gone a day without thinking about Hiroshi. Even if she did punch him in the face, she was an interesting person. To him, she always was, He never really explained how he had gotten a bloody nose, and his parents didn’t press him about it, thankfully. He knew that he needed to apologize. When he saw her again today, he knew it was too late. What an idiot he was for not trying to apologize before. It was too late now. He knew that Hiroshi had a certain disdain for him, and honestly, it drove him insane. He knew her for a long time and the fact that she regarded him as scum, hurt him more than she’d ever really know.
The next class was just as disastrous as the first. Hiroshi chose not to speak to Jack, and Jack wanted nothing more than to apologize. It was almost two weeks later when Jack decided he was going to Hiroshi to speak to him. He had gone far out of his way to figure out her class schedule, and who her best friend was. When Jack approached Misaki, he almost regretted it immediately,
“So you’re into Hiroshi, huh?” Misaki teased him, and instantly he blushed. As much as he’d like to deny it, he couldn’t.
“I just need her participation for class. Look, I deserved getting punched in the face, I understand I was a complete asshole. I just need her to want to work with me in class, if nothing else.” Jack admitted eagerly to Misaki.
“She cannot resist a HUGE romantic gesture…you know flowers, singing telegram, dinner out. Valentine’s day isn’t that far away, maybe just be honest and say sorry yourself. I have to get to class, but this is our dorm. I can pretend I know nothing.” Misaki said as she walked away.
Hiroshi spent her days trying to get Jackass out of her mind. How could he just want to work with her after the party? Sure, she shouldn't have punched him, but he was being ridiculous. Ever since their first meeting, he was always a pretentious ass. Hiroshi flung herself face-first on the bed. She knew that eventually, she’d have to actually work with Jack since in a few short months they’d have to present together. She groaned externally and wanted to give up. A moment later there was a loud knock on the door. As she opened the door there was a vase of beautiful flowers and a note.
Look, I know we got off on the wrong foot.
Perhaps, we can start over?
If you’re interested please meet me at
the cafe on the corner closest to the main
building after class tomorrow, my treat.
~J. Rutherford
Hiroshi stood there in amazement. She wanted to immediately forgive Jack with such a sweet gesture, but also she wanted to rip his arrogant face off. Who did he think he was trying to apologize after so much time had passed. She thought about it for a bit. She weighed the pros and cons and figured if she wanted a good grade for the class, she’d better meet him. She could get free tea or cranberry juice out of it. She waited for Misaki to get back to tell her.
The next morning, Hiroshi got out of bed and got ready for her day as she normally did. She had a creeping suspicion that Jack wouldn’t actually try to be any nicer, but she wanted to give him the benefit of the doubt. So she got ready as she normally did, and went to class like normal. Today was a test, which she was confident in completing rather quickly. As the rest of her class came in, she got more and more nervous about the event happening afterward. The professor handed out the test and less than fifteen minutes later Jack got up and left the room. Hiroshi and everyone else were shocked. She put her head down and continued her test. After another half hour, she finished and left to meet up with Jack.
The moment she walked into the cafe, he stood up to greet her. He was quite the opposite from before. He held out a chair for her and pushed it in. He ordered her some cranberry juice and had gotten himself coffee.
“Hiroshi, I am really sorry. I know we don’t get along, but I would like to put our differences aside and just begin anew.” Jack said the moment he sat down. Hiroshi still doubted him.
“Look, I know you don’t believe me. I will do anything to prove it to you.” The look on his face let Hiroshi know he was being honest. She gave a small nod before she took a sip of her juice.
“Are you ready for the honest truth?” He asked. Hiroshi was intrigued to know what the truth was, but it probably was some terrible excuse he thought of while waiting for her to show up today.
“I am, but know, I do know when you’re lying. If you give me some bullshit excuse I won’t hesitate to ask for a new partner.” She said nonchalantly. He stiffened. He knew she didn’t want to work with him.
“It is quite a simple explanation. I like you.” He admitted to her leaning closer and grinning slyly. She gaffed.
“Yeah, okay.” She said sarcastically. “You’re full of it.” She shook her head and stood up to leave.
“Hiroshi, please don’t go. Remember summer about ten years ago? The Summer Camp?” He barely whispered. It all came racing back to her. The terrible events and the mysterious man who saved her from drowning. The storm came quickly, even when it wasn’t supposed to rain at all. Hiroshi wasn’t afraid of the storm, but the riptide was another story. The last thing Hiroshi thought of before giving up was nothing. In the dark troubled water, a boy went after her. Two strangers who knew nothing of one another, their life would forever be tangled. He was the boy who saved a girl from drowning, and she was a pathetic weakling who couldn’t save herself.
She spent the night in the hospital, alone and cold. Jack didn’t leave her side. When her parents made it the next day, he was there to explain everything that happened. Despite almost losing her life, Hiroshi decided to stay at camp. Jack and Hiroshi spent every moment they could together. By the end of camp, Hiroshi and Jack had shared their first kiss and promised to write one another letters once a week. For a few months it worked out, but time and life made it happen less and less until it completely stopped.
Hiroshi shook her head in disbelief. She swore she’d never forget him, and yet she did. She wanted to cry and run away, but her damn pride kept her sitting in the chair. She spent many years convincing herself it wasn’t real and he didn’t save her, it was all just a made-up dream some little girl had.
“Jackie?” Hiroshi barely whispered. Tears pooled in her eyes threatening to fall down her face. The nickname she’d given him all those years ago, still pulled at his heart. He smiled softly at her. She looked just as scared the first time they met. He got up from his seat and walked over to Hiroshi. In a quick move, he wrapped his arms around her and held her tight. The two stayed that way until Hiroshi cleared her throat. He took a step back and cupped her face looking at her perfect face. He placed a chaste kiss on her lips. Immediately, Hiroshi’s tears sprang free.
The rest of the semester ended well. Hiroshi reconnected and even started dating. Jack graduated from College and landed his dream job. He moved into an apartment not too far from the college where he could visit Hiroshi anytime he wished. After Hiroshi graduated she moved into the apartment with Jack. He proposed a few months later. Hiroshi excitedly said yes, and the rest of their lives was a fairytale.
I've gotten back more into Code Vien so I might as well show more of Hildagarde!

She was sent out one day to go get bloodbeads, when she seen two other revenates that desperately needed them. She gave the ones she found up which ended up getting scoled for and then later turned into a physical altercation with her leaders, in self defense she dispersed them. In fear of meeting the same fate, she ran off leaving her friends Khrove and Terra.
After wondering for so long this causes Hildagarde to join project successor after queenslayer ended. She was so determined to be useful in someway after what happened. Mido seen that in her so she got stuck to be his expirement (unluckly.)
During this time she was with Emily, she was before her as an expirement, known as the Successor of the Fang. Mido had a hard time controlling Hildagarde, she has a strong sense of freedom and wondered wayyyy to much. So he replaced her with Emily who was more of a "success" then she was.
Hildagarde felt as though as she was no longer needed and attempted to leave, this leads to her meeting Jack. He had to time and time again to drag her back which lead to a game of chase from time to time. Since Jack is a successor (seeker) he keeps a close watch on her which leaves to them actually bonding.

Hildagarde was tired of the treatment from Mido and took to chance to leave when Jack went to go check on the other successors. She traveled to the dried up Trenches and stayed there for a while until she met the Queenslayer prog and joined the team.
